Edit a Template
Modify an existing template to update questions, adjust conditions, or improve the structure based on feedback.
Before You Start
- You need Manager or Supervisor permissions
- Changes affect future inspections — completed inspections retain their original template version
Steps
Step 1: Find the template
- Click Templates in the left navigation bar
- Browse or search for the template you want to edit
- Click on the template card to open the detail view

Step 2: Open edit mode
- In the detail view, click Edit
- The template becomes editable

Step 3: Make your changes
You can modify any element:
Structure:
- Add or remove questions
- Add or remove sections
- Add or remove pages
- Reorder any element by dragging
Content:
- Change question text
- Update descriptions
- Modify response options
- Adjust tags
Configuration:
- Add, modify, or remove conditions
- Update triggers
- Change required field settings

Step 4: Save the template
- Review all changes
- Click Save
- The updated template is immediately available
Viewing Template History
Changes to templates are tracked:
- Open the template detail view
- View the Activity section
- See who made changes and when
This provides accountability and helps trace when modifications were made.
Deleting a Template
If a template is no longer needed:
- Open the template detail view
- Click Delete
- Confirm deletion
Note: Deleted templates can be recovered if needed.
Using Comments
Communicate with your team about template changes:
- Open the template detail view
- Go to the Comments section
- Leave notes about changes, ask questions, or document decisions
Enable Follow Conversation to receive notifications when others comment.

Tips
- Document significant changes in the comments for future reference
- Test edited templates with a sample inspection before widespread use
- Review operator feedback to identify needed improvements
- Keep question text consistent — small wording changes can affect how operators interpret questions
- Consider creating a new version rather than editing if changes are substantial
What Happens to Existing Inspections?
- Completed inspections: Retain the template version they were executed with
- Scheduled inspections: Will use the updated template
- In-progress inspections: May need to be completed with the original version
